Theo Brought Into Colorado Game during 3rd Period

The game did not go well for Backstrom (I'm not blaming him at all.) Richards finally brought José in not far into the 3rd period, score at the time 7-3. The Avs fans booed José, of course. They are a bunch of classy folks out there.

Theo played 13:11 minutes. He only faced 2 shots and stopped them both.

His record is still 3-2, SV% is .922, GAA 2.66.

Here was a shot from warm-ups where he's laughing it up with Budaj. This is nice to see.

  1. I think the starting goalie is on the hook until/unless the team scores more goals than he gave up before he's pulled. So I don't think Jose will be tagged with this loss.

  2. You're right. I feel really bad for Backstrom. I think it would've been best if he'd been taken out after the 2nd period ended. Or taken out sometime during the 2nd even. He's had a rough last 3 games. I'd say Theo will start on Monday...

  3. I just don't why why the Wild can't play a decent 2nd period. It just doesn't make sense? Oh well. At least that's a nice picture of Theo... /:

  4. Yeah, it's definitely a 2nd period curse for them. It's crazy. It is a nice photo...looks so happy!

  5. Budaj must be a most amusing person, asuming by Theo's face

  6. I know. ;o) It seems that Budaj and Theo would've been the #1 and #2 goalies in Colorado during part of Theo's time there, so I'd say they became friends. I've heard Budaj is a pretty nice guy, so I bet they got along well. I saw an interview with José after he went to Washington and then played Colorado and he said, "I still have lots of friends on the team..." so I think he enjoyed his time there with those guys.

It's so sad how some of the Avs fans still spew meanness and nastiness in Theo's direction (even booing him and taunting him last night as I heard from someone that was in the stands.) I've read lots of positive comments about him from former teammates there, so I think it's just some very vocal fans that have a problem. Pathetic and sad.

  7. Wtv amount of booing and tauning is nothing compared to what I've had to sit through at the Bell Centre in montreal...even when theo is sitting on the bench or even as he is practicing during warm-ups its insane!!

  8. I just don't understand people booing. If they don't like a player, just let it go and root for someone else. I will never understand the need to tear someone down that has not done anything mean or illegal. So he was guilty of what? Having some rough patches in his game? Having family members that embarrassed him? Having a bit of an active social life in Montreal? ;o) That's nothing to be so nasty about. I just can't understand the meanness...

  9. People are just idiots. Haters gonna hate. It's like the Philly fans who used to throw popcorn at Malkin when he was in the penalty box, or the Devils fans booing Paul Martin everytime he touched the puck earlier this season when he played his first game in NJ with the Pens.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with having an active social life :P As a med student, I approve partying like a rock star (or hockey star) a 100%! :D

  10. True dat!!! ;o) I just want to say "Hate the game, not the playa." Although I don't really know what that means...but I think it sounds funny. But yup, I'm always saying "haters gonna hate" about Theo. I was just defending him on the Wild forum a bit ago, and a guy called me "Theodore's mom" because of it. ;o) I am like a mama bear with him...all protective. But I am NOT old enough to be his mom, for the record. ;o)

  11. lol! That reminds me of a friend who used to tease me because of me having a huge crush on a musician... he was about 40, and she was always like "he could be your FATHER!"... luckily, I'm not young enough to be Theo's daughter, woot! lol

  12. Haha!! That's a plus. ;o) I'm going to tell tales on myself...but I'm ONLY 4 years older than him...well, 4 1/2 I guess. ;p So I'll be the protective...older sister. ;o)
