The Wild Goaltending Best 1-2 Punch in NHL Right Now?

I think so! With Backstrom and Theo being extremely solid in the nets, they're keeping their team in games that otherwise they would not be in. Even whenn they lose, goaltending is NOT the problem. The team gets outshot like no other, and the goalies are stepping up and shining!! Keep it up, boys! Hopefully the rest of the team will rise to your level soon.

Here was a Russo tweet from after the Wild's win today over Tampa Bay where Backstrom had 37 saves:

#mnwild C John Madden on Backstrom/Theodore: "I don’t think there’s another team in the league getting quite the goaltending we’re getting."

And here was a Nov. 13th blurb from montrealgazette.com:
'Stupendous' win for Wild's Theo

Jose Theodore had to be at his best for his first victory with Minnesota -35 stops in a 3-2 victory in Columbus. How good was he? A report on the game described him as "stupendous" in the second period when his team was outshot 16-3. He's 1-1 with the Wild.

  1. From a difficult to impress columnist, no less.
Red Fisher has been covering the Canadiens for 49 years -- so he's seen a lot of hockey, including Theo's Hart/Vezina season in 2001-2002.
